The first thing you should know, even before buying our artificial turf, are the measurements of the surface where it will be installed. It’s important to measure and plan the layout of the installation, so that you can buy the correct quantity of meters that you will need. It’s very important to take into account that the artificial grass is stored and distributed in rolls of 2 or 4 meters.
As we mentioned before, you will need to measure and plan well ahead of time the layout of the lawn, and make sure that all the pieces are placed in the same direction. Because this process is so important, our team can help you calculate the custom cut dimensions of the grass you’ll need.
You will then roll out the artificial grass, measure and mark the areas where you’ll have to cut with the cutter. It’s more comfortable and easier to make the cuts on the roll itself.
If there are any columns, you should measure its depth and make a mark by cutting the surface of the lawn. It’s very important to cut the artificial grass, starting at the base, with a cutter, and always wear safety gloves to avoid any possible accidents.
Follow the initial planning layout when you roll out the artificial grass on the surface and spread all the pieces with the fibers on the same direction to avoid any irregularities.
Leave a small margin between the artificial grass and the wall, when you place the first piece. Adjust it to that it fits perfectly before making the cut on the lawn.
Clean the edges of the pieces that will be joined. By trimming approximately 0,5 cm on each side, the lawn will be set straight without imperfections.
Next, you must leave a space of 0,1 to 0,5 cm between the two pieces of grass. This step is necessary to avoid any marks between the joints after the installation.
Next, lift the edges of the pieces of artificial grass to place the seaming tape between the two strips of grass, extending the adhesive with a serrated shovel to make it as uniform and smooth as possible.
To avoid the fibers from sticking to the seaming tape, you should place the edges of the joint on the seaming tape and press lightly so that they can adhere perfectly. We can also use the self-adhesive seaming tape which is a faster choice.
When you set the artificial grass to the tile, apply a sealer with a silicone gun. As a general rule, you will have to glue it on the surface with marks every 20-30 cm along the entire perimeter. Make sure you glue all the corners and trimmings together.
When installing artificial grass on tile, we must consider the type of installation before you decide to use silica sand. Although its use helps the lawn to stay cool, provides comfort in each step and extends the life of the product, we may not want to use it in installations that are indoor or that combine a lawn area with a tile area. The reason for this is that some sand particles may stick to our footwear and spread around.
In any case, all our products are slightly curled to improve comfort and our models with MaxRecover and BodyShape technologies that promote fiber recovery, are a perfect solution to use without filling.
We recommend the use of silica sand in outdoor installations, where there is no problem if particles stick to our footwear and get spread around.
One of the last steps in the process of installing artificial grass on tile is to brush the surface in the opposite direction of the fiber hair with a push broom to lift the fiber and remove any hairs that may have fallen during the installation process.
Finally, just apply Realsmell, our enzymatic cleaner with the smell of freshly cut natural grass that will sanitize the surface and avoid the growth of bacteria.
